I have seen him work with students individually, in small groups and in middle school and high school presentations with hundreds of participants. Jim's energy, passion and commitment ethic set the professional standard for excellence. The Zeeland Action Coalition has consulted with Jim Tuman for many years. During one of these consultations, Jim lived in our community for three months and designed community interventions with our coalition.
Jim does not only walk the walk, he lives it. His practical understanding of the preciousness of life is seen in his capacity to connect with all kinds of people.
Jim has been an advocate for youth for over three decades. His passion for his life's work is unmatched. Jim understands the rhythms of life. Developmentally Jim is at a point in his own life that his collective experience and wisdom is at full stride.
In Zeeland, we affectionately refer to Jim's visits and presentations as being "Tumanized." Individually, young and old alike, should experience Jim Tuman at work, at play, at life. Jim changes individuals, families, schools and communities through a direct and thoughtful approach to change. Jim is an action oriented and goal driven individual.
I have known Jim for more than ten years. His work in this area is unsurpassed. However, Jim's current energy, focus and message have gone to the next level. If you have never experienced Tuman or it's been awhile since you have had him in your community, now is the time! Through Jim's capacity to empathize with young people and his understanding of their needs to be safe, valued and loved, Jim is able to create a powerful opportunity for healing within today's culture.
