TESTIMONIALS

Hello Mr. Truman,

I am not sure if you were the person I have been looking for, but I thought I'd give it a shot. Back in the late 80's a radio station in my hometown, Santa Barbara California hosted a motivational series for local teens. I was 12 or 13 at the time and honestly, the only reason my friends and I attended was for the time away from school and the free radio swag. I was unaware at the time the real impact that the series would ultimately have in my life.

I am writing to you in the hope that you are the speaker that headline the event held at Santa Barbara County Bowl. It was probably 1988 or 1989. The speaker at that event started off with a powerful statement that has stayed with me to this day, "who is a moment most important person you know?" The presentation was engaging in very effective. At the end of the event, every participant was offered a free cassette tape of the presentation. I grabbed one, not really thinking that I would ever listen to it again. But because it was more free stuff.

The next five years of my life were more tumultuous than the first 13 had been (I didn't think that was possible). More than once, I found myself in some very dark and uncertain places. One particularly tough day (I must've been 15), I sought out that tape I popped it into my walkman and took off for the day. For the rest of those dark days, that tape was my saving grace. I truly believe that the messages it contains saved my life, more times than I can count.

Somewhere in my 20's I lost the tape. Although my life seems to be idealistic these days, I still think about that presentation and that speaker when times are hard and when times are great. I'd love to reconnect with the speaker and the messages from that tape so that I can pass the content onto my own children, and maybe still find some inspiration for myself.

Please let me know if you are the person of whom I am speaking.

Thank you,
Kimie Ueoka
